I cannot view any attachments in the forums here.

Is there some setting I need to configure??

EX:

http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?s...time+protection

I cannot view any attachments in the thread above..

I get the following message:

The error returned was:

Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available.

Hi wizardnug,

That post is now in the "Resolved/Inactive General Support Issues" which means that it is closed - attachments in closed Topics can't be accessed.

Try viewing an attachment in an open Topic, such as the (.gif) attachments that I uploaded in this thread: Error Retrieving Update.

If you can see the images, then you should be able to access any uploaded images/files in open threads..

Spike

Actually, that's true but not a desired effect and one I frankly had not noticed until you brought this to our attention.

Let me see if I can fix that because closed/resolved threads can still be an excellent self help and reference resource so we DO want members to be able to view and/or download attachments.

All fixed now! biggrin.gif

Downloads were not enabled in the Read only forums which I have turned all those on for downloads.

Please let me know if you find any that you can't view attachments. This is open even for guests.

Thanks so much for pointing out the error!!

This was actually because of an upgrade to a newer version of the Board software done last March. The attachment system was completely overhauled and it included a new "permissions" area for enabling downloads (which wasn't in prior versions). When they added that it is disabled by default and I completely missed that. So it was probably occurring between March and now which until someone reported the problem, I wasn't aware of it because I rarely view the forums on a member or even guest level. Maybe I might try to remember that next time there is an upgrade smile.gif
