Dear Lavasoft:

I love your products. I just purchased the pro version of Ad-Aware never thinking to check whether it works or not with Vista 64. What should I do I have a key for a year and probally won't be able to use it until December.

Hello Nbkan and welcome to the forum,

Should you decide not to wait, your purchase documentation includes the information that you may apply for a refund within 14 days of purchase through the Support Center, along with purchase details (Purchase Date, Reference #, etc) and the fact that you are running 64-bit Vista - once you are logged-in to Support, you will find the email link.

Support has a bit of a backlog at the moment, so so please don't expect an immediate confirmation of the refund - as long as the request is made wilthin the stipulated time-frame, it will come.

You could then re-purchase once the 64-bit Vista-compatible upgrade has been released. Keep an eye on Lavasoft News and the Lavasoft Blog.

Regards,

Spike

I also purchased Ad-Aware/Ad-Watch 2007 (Pro) not realizing that it was not compatible with Windows Vista 64-bit OS. I had already switched off Aero display and have tried running Ad-Aware scan. The scan proceeds nicely until it gets into the registry scan. At that point the scan seems to hang and looking in Windows Task Manager I can see that Ad-Aware listed there consumes almost all available RAM and basically just hangs. It seems that Ad-Aware is not able to properly handle the new 64-bit memory system in Vista. I'm sure this makes the job that much more challenging, as do all instances of significant OS changes with regard to third-party software vendors.

Here's a gentle push to encourage LavaSoft to produce code for Ad-Aware/Ad-Watch to make it compatible with Windows Vista 64-bit.

Thanks and good luck, and I'll be looking for notice in my e-mails from LavaSoft that a 64-bit version is available.
