I'm running Ad-Aware SE Plus 1.06r1, Norton AntiVirus 2006, IE 6.0 SP2, on Windown XP Pro SP2. To change my IE home page, I've 1) disconnectected from the Internet, 2) disabled Ad-Watch 3) disabled the NAV home page protection utility, 4) typed a new URL in the home page address field and 5) reboot.

The home page doesn't change. What is the right way to do this?

In order to change your home/start page, you will need to do the following:

1. Right-click on the Ad-Watch icon in the system tray.
2. Select "Restore Ad-Watch"
3. Turn off (red cross) "automatic"
4. Change your home page
5. Click "Accept" to the Ad-Watch alarm.

Personally, I suggest keeping "automatic" turned off. IMO, it is worth the extra clicks to accept changes when installing software or changing your home page and be in control of changes you wish made to your computer. If a browser hijack attempts to change your home page, you will be able to deny that change as easily as you accept the change when it is your choice.
