Hi bernis,

You may need the instructions in this Ad-Aware 2007 FAQ: How do I resolve the "Error 1722" problem?

It begins:
QUOTE
This problem relates to the MSI installer from Microsoft; it is associated with either an outdated or corrupt Windows Installer or with permission for Windows Script Hosting (WSH).

the "UPDATING WINDOWS SCRIPT HOSTING" link that they provide doesnt work
it takes me here
"The download you requested is unavailable. If you continue to see this message when trying to access this download, go to the "Search for a Download" area on the Download Center home page."

Thanks for reporting the broken link - I'll pass the information on.

Have just done a quick downloads search at that page and came up with:

For Windows XP: Windows Script 5.7 for Windows XP released 9th August 2007

For Windows 2000: Windows Script 5.7 for Windows 2000 released the same day.

Both state:
QUOTE
Overview: This download installs Microsoft® Windows® Script containing Visual Basic® Script Edition (VBScript.) Version 5.7, JScript® Version 5.7, Windows Script Components, Windows Script Host 5.7, and Windows Script Runtime Version 5.7.

This is beyond my level of Windows expertise, so will ask someone more knowledgeable if these would be the right downloads for whatever your OS is.

In the meantime, have you tried updating the WINDOWS INSTALLER?
