On occasions, Ad-Aware may become unresponsive during a scan. This could be due to a "sticky" malware, or a conflict with other security applications using guarded processes.

If you Ad-Aware is hanging during a scan, you may wish to try these steps:-
  • Open Ad-Aware
  • Click on Settings (The cogwheel icon)
  • Choose "Tweak -> Scanning Engine"
  • Deselect the "Unload recognised modules during scan" option
  • Perform an Ad-Aware Scan
