Using XP Pro

A program I've been using for the longest time suddenly stopped working. I wanted to reinstall it but went to remove it through the Control Panel Add Or Remove Programs section first. When I opened Add Or Remove Programs, all of the programs were there (I think) but the options to Uninstall or Remove are all missing.

Anybody familiar with this?

You could look in the program's folder to see if there is a separate uninstall file?

Also, if this problem occurs with other programs in the Control panel, it could be a setting in the windows registry needs fixing.

Check this page to see if that resolves the problem:
Some applications in Add/Remove Programs list are missing Change and Remove buttons ?

That comes from this site with some common problems and their solutions:

Calamity Jane:

Sorry for the direct contact. I didn't realize that was a no-no.

Yes, I already had checked out the regedit search for the Uninstall Folder at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SOFTWARE
\Microsoft
\Windows
\CurrentVersion
\Uninstall

The problem was that the entire Uninstall Folder was missing which obviously accounted for all the missing buttons. The Uninstall Folder reappeared only after I was succesful in reinstalling RecordNow Max. Now RecordNow Max is the only program in the Add Or Remove Programs menu that has the option to remove. I realize this may not be a malware or virus situation at all but have you ever heard of this happening? Do you know of a utility that would recerate the data in the Unistall folder?

Thanks.

I think the first thing I would try is System Restore. Do you know how to do that?

Was this machine infected recently or anything?

Look to see what restore points you might have available and let me know.
