Hi there, first off just wanted to say this is my first post I'm a normal user of other msg boards and forums so I did read any stickys etc.

Alright my problem I just recently only a few hours ago downloaded a ActiveX Object update. I've used ActiveX before so I figured all was well I just did a normal run insted of downloading the program and scanning it quickly. Turns out it was a malware/trojan by the name of ASD-backdoor(something or rather) I have looked all over for ways to remove it.

Currently I use the most up to date version of Ewido and I have updated my Mcafee and ran scans. I still have some troubles and keep getting popups about how my computer is infected and I should download virus protection software.

When I use Firefox I do not have this problem how ever when I use my IE and I close the window I get a dialog box labeled ASD Release and a Ok button.

I really have no idea what to do to remove this Trojan. I have updated virus protection ran multiple scans and I'm still having problems, any help would be awesome!

Still getting lots of popups about downloading new virus protection, infact its gotten a little worse. any help would be great-full.

Apologies for the late reply, we've been quite swamped in here as you can probably see.

Are you still needing help? This is the Zlob or smitfraud trojan and yes, we can help.

I'm now subscribed to this topic so I will receive a notice from the board as soon as you reply, so I can be here much more quickly than it has taken to get to your new topic.

If you still need help we need two things:

1. Your Adaware Scan log with the latest reference file update.

2. A fresh HijackThis log for review to see where you are now. However, You are running Hijackthis from the desktop and that's not a good location as it stores backup files in the same folder it is installed in and they can accidentally get deleted if they are sitting on your desktop.

Please make a new folder to put your HijackThis.exe into. Anywhere on your hard drive is fine <I>other than your Desktop or the Temp folder</I>. We suggest you use something like "C:\Program Files\HijackThis" but feel free to use any name. See here for specific instructions and screen shots to help:

This is to ensure it makes the necessary backups for recovery if needed.
Unzip/decompress the HijackThis.zip file and save the contents (HijackThis.exe) to the new folder you made and make sure you run it from there. You can make a shortcut to the desktop for HJT if you find that easier.
