Same prob. as all the others who receive the message "...appears invalid"

Couldn't get my upgrade from SE+ to Ad-Aware 2007 so I bought a new copy of Ad-Aware 2007.

Got serial number and when trying, after updating finished loading 3 new files, to register/activate received the usual error.

Perhaps the hareware key is invalid?

Tried all the suggestions from this forum - at least 5 of them. Much rebooting done.

Any more suggestion to use on this Win2000P (SP4) / Athlon box?

Finally got my new copy of Ad-Aware 2007 to work :)
Just needed to try "Update" again. Perhaps the first time the "Update" was unsucessefull

So what was the solution? To run the update twice on the free version then enter your key to register to the upgraded version?

Yes, just had to get update to work properly before trying the registration.

Of course, one never really knows when the update has properly worked so I just kept trying the update-registration process until it was sucessful.

My copy of Ad-Aware 2007 plus is now working properly and it registered first go! I didn't update first, it didn't seem to need it?
I was asked for a hardware finger print key, I assumed they meant the one from my broken machine. I did manage to extract it from the old hard drive with a bit of difficulty. As it turned out Lavasoft wanted the new machine finger print and all was well.
I thought it strange at the time, supposing the drive had died and there was no way to find that code number?

Perhaps it's me being stupid, or Lavasoft should state it's the new number that's required. The confusing thing with that is, you have to load Ad-Aware first to get the number, then remove it as and then re install it as instructed.

Well that one is solved, now all I have to do is find out why my wife's machine won't load Ad watch when started. It did register OK and did work fine for a while, now I have to manually start Ad watch every time it's booted. (Yes, it does have a separate licence).

It can take a bit of fiddling to get Ad-Watch settings to "take" wink.gif

Please see my post here: New Guy Needs Some Help!

I am going to TRY to report problem with Ad-Watch DAILY .. elsewhere . but having to 'retrieve new code daily is totally ridiculous:('
