I am using the latest update - 7.0.1.5 of the free version on Windows XP. Since downloading this version, I receive the following message on clicking the update button: "Getting information about update file, please wait." At that point, nothing happens. Am I to assume that is normal behavior if my files are updated? Do others have the same experience? Thanks for your assistance.

Yes, the 'Getting information...' window is supposed to be there.

If you want to turn update notifications on, go to Settings > Auto Scans > Safety

Check the option called 'Display update status dialog'

Go to: Settings / Autoscans:
In "safety" column, check the box: " Display update status dialog"

I had the same experience on clicking the update button. I deleted and reinstalled Ad-aware 2007 and the update function now works giving information showing if the files are up to date.
