will ask this as I think there will be other win 98se users who will have this problem

as we have found out adaware 2007 does NOT run with win 98se ;

is there a plan to phase OUT adaware se personal and only have the 2007 version which does NOT run on 98se

or what IS the plan? unsure.gif

Your url points to a 'system requirements for Ad-Aware 2007' page. The question was - will Ad-Aware SE be phased out?
You have given an answer, but not to the question.

As an Ad-Aware SE user on Win 98 SE - who can not make use of Ad-Aware 2007 - I am interested in the answer.

I am sure that we will continue to see new definition files released for Ad-AwareSE for a period of time but exactly what that period will be is open to question. I doubt that even Lavasoft can say for sure at this point. After the release of Ad-AwareSE definitions continued to be available for the previous version for quite some time and the end of support was announced well in advance. I would expect that to be true in this case as well.

The fact is that it is no longer 1999, Windows is no longer a GUI that runs over DOS, and Microsoft dropped support for any of the Win9x versions some time ago. A modern antispyware capable of protecting XP and Vista would likely not even run on those older versions.

again MY request was NOT about system requirements for adaware 2007 as I KNOW mine are NOT up to specs

MY ( and evidently others)request is for adaware se continued support for win 98 se users unsure.gif

else one may have to hunt around for an alternative

I have the same problem.W98SE is my OS.Really screwed up.There was no notice in the advance publicity about the 2007 version NOT being compatible with anything less than W2K.I uninstalled my AdAware.Went to install the 2007 version and after downloading,a window pops up and says basically,nothing less than W2K is compatible.I`m MOST unhappy.Is the older software still available,I hope.

Just feeling my way around the forum, having registered today in order to seek advice on updating Ad-Aware SE Personal. It seems I'm not the only one who can't get past the 5% mark. I have followed to the letter all suggestions on help page, still no success. Am operating on Windows 98SE, BTW. I managed to find a post that suggested something like "Hippo Link" from which to download the latest version 1.06r1 - can't find it now. Can anyone help?

Cancel all above - have found the link I was looking for, left by "winchester"(?), uninstalled and reinstalled Ad-Aware SE Personal and updated it with no problems. It is now working as before - but for how long, I wonder?
