Full Version: Need To Update Adaware Removal Instructions

Over the past year there has been guidance offered in this forum for removing old versions of AdAware. It typically follows the methods posted at:

I Am Unable To Uninstall My Ad-aware Program. I Get The Message "can't Find Install.log"

However, many people (myself included) have found that this guidance doesn't work.

For method #3, I found the unwise.exe file but it did not contain the needed install.log file so it wouldn't work.

When I tried the manual uninstall method I could not find the unregaaw.exe file anywhere on my computer.

Can some expert from Lavasoft please review, update and post the procedure for complete removal of AdAware Personal? There should be a single, definitive procedure for completely cleansing a computer of AdAware remnants. This is going to be important as more and more people try to remove old versions of AdAware prior to installing AdAware 2007.

Thanks.

Try this method, if you haven't so:
  • Install the software again, so the corrupted/missed files get back to your PC
  • Then try to uninstall it

i am also getting error 1920 on XP. I tried following your suggestion of launching the service, but it was not listed in the services list. Any other ideas???
