I had the Ad-Watch SE Plus program running in the backgound when I had my old ISP, AT&T. Now that I've switched to Netzero I'm unable to change my home page because the Ad-Watch has it locked in. Tell me how to change Ad-Watch to adjust to my new ISP so that I can change my Home Page. I had to disable the program from being on all the time to be able to change my Home Page. I'm using Windows XP SP2 Home Edition version 2002, IE 6 with dialup service.

I'm using the paid version of Ad-Watch SE Plus. Not sure if this is the forum for this but here goes. I set up the program when I had my old ISP AT&T, now that I switched to Netzero ( both dialup), the Ad-Watch SE Plus program, will not let my Home Page & search page change to Netzero while it is monitoring. Can you tell me how alter Ad-Watch so that it allows Netzero to load as my Home Page?

I installed my Ad-Watch SE Plus using my old ISP AT&T. Now I've switched to Netzero (both dialup) but while Ad-Watch is constantly monitoring it won't let me change my Home Page. Can you tell me how to alter the Ad-Watch program to allow for my new ISP and for that matter any new service. I have found it difficult at times to run Ad-Watch when I install new programs on my PC. I'm using Windows XP Home Edition SP2 version 2002, IE 6. When I take Ad-Watch off constant monitoring, it will allow for the change but while constant monitoring this cannot occur. There must be some change to the program I can make that can allow for the new program. Please tell me how?

Hi sweets,

Make sure that Ad-Watch (in Ad-Aware SE 1.06) is set to "Active" and not "Automatic", as per this screenshot:

Automatic silently blocks all changes to the registry, whilst Active pops up an "Alert" window - if the change being flagged follows something that you instigated (installed a new program or changed Homepage, as in this case) then read it carefully and "Accept". If you haven't made any changes yourself, check the alert very carefully. This what an alert looks like:

If it is set to Active, it should flag your changed HomePage and you may accept it.

Spike

NB: Note to readers - this advice is only for users of AAW SE not AAW 2007

I have two questions please:
I'm not sure how to do this. The program is not active or running right now. Do I click on the icon on my Desktop and then proceed as per your instructions above?
Also if I do this, don't I risk having the program alter my Home Page again before I make the change from Automatic to Active?

sweets, just activate ADWATCH from your desktop - then click on auto to and automatic and just leave them set as per screen shot (Green and Red).
It will now start automatically when you start up PC. I have mine set this way and am now able to change homepage if required.

Ad-Watch is the Real-Time Protection module of Ad-Aware Plus/Pro - it should be set to start automatically at sytem boot-up, blocking malware/spyware before it gets into your system - that is the point of having it happy.gif

I'm using AAW 2007 now, but this is how I had my AAW SE Plus 1.06 configured. Open Ad-Watch, then click on "Tools" (bottom-right corner) then select "Options" from the list, expanding the GUI until the all the sections are visible. This shows how I had my Ad-Watch set (under "Blocking Options", the first two should be de-selected ie: red-cross, as there is a known issue which can occur if they are both selected ie: green cross). Click on the image to view full size:

If you do not currently have Ad-Watch set to load at Startup, then open Ad-Aware SE, click on the "Configuration Cog", then select "Tweak" and expand the Ad-Watch section, selecting (green tick) these options:

A good idea (as long as you have a faster connection than just dial-up - ie: braodband/cable), is to check for Definition File updates automatically, whenever Ad-Aware SE is loaded (if you choose to do a Smart Scan automatically at sytem boot-up, these settings will check for updates, complete the scan, and then close Ad-Aware, leaving Ad-Watch guarding your system (look for it minimised to the system tray):

Hope that this is of help to you,

The appropriate response to a change that I want is to "Accept", is that what you're saying?
Pierre67
sweets, I think what he trying to say is if you wish to change your homepage click on accept. That is how I changed mine.

Spike will be back on the air in about 9 hrs from now as it is 1.30 am in NZ and 11.30 pm here in Australia.

Hi sweets,

Yes, for a change that you want to keep, such as a new HomePage, click on "Accept".
