My dad's computer is probably infected with something. Firefox will work fine, but Internet Explorer 7 can not access the internet. When I run the diagnostic tool from IE's error window, I am told that the computer detects the internet fine. I have reinstalled IE 7, and it didn't work. I have run a scan using Ad-Aware 2007 in Safe Mode, and all it detected were privacy issues, all of which I deleted. It did not however detect anything critical.

So, I hope someone can take a look at this and tell me what's wrong.

I don't see anything suspicious here..

This is no issue with your Internet connection, although it may be a good idea to check the connection settings in Internet Explorer. (compare with your settings in Firefox as Firefox works)

Anyway, I guess it's mainly your Trendmicro Firewall which is blocking Internet Explorer here. When a program has been updated/modified (as for example from IE6 to IE7) or Windows updates were installed, it alters some files loaded in Internet Explorer.
So, by default, a firewall (or Antivirus) sees this modification and displays an alert if you want to allow this or not.
So what I guess what happened here is, the "block" button was being used.
To figure out if it's indeed your Firewall causing this, disable Trendmicro, then load Internet Explorer and see if it works.
If it indeed works if Trendmicro is disabled, then check the Firewall settings and look if the application iexplore.exe is blocked there. In that case, you should unblock it and grant access.

You may also want to check if you do have Internet Access when the add-ons are disabled. Because I see a lot of toolbars/add ons installed. Yahoo Toolbar, Webshots toolbar, AOL searchenhancement, EarthLink Toolbar. Please don't overload your IE with toolbars.
To temporary disable the add-ons, rightclick your Internet Explorer icon on your desktop and select: "Start without add ons". Or, go to start > all programs > System Tools > Internet Explorer (no Add-ons)

If none of above solved the issue.... Then reboot your computer in Windows safe mode, but choose "with networking support". Then you'll have Internet Access in Windows Safe mode.
Then in Windows Safe mode, check if your Internet Explorer works then. If so, then it's a third party program interfering in Windows normal mode.

If IE cannot access Internet connection in Windows Safe mode either (although you've selected Safe mode with networking support and Firefox works in safe mode), then it's most probably a corrupted install of Internet Explorer.
You said you've uninstalled it and reinstalled it again, but there are some very important things you should know before reinstalling IE7, this in order to make sure that it will be installed properly:
