In trying to download the new definitions for 8 May, Adaware SE Personal give me a popup indicating that "The downloaded files cannot be read. Please update again." I have tried repeatedly with the same result. Is there a work around for this other than download the .zip file of definitions from the web site. When I tried that, I got a message that the "Page could not be found."

humak1,
Clear out your cache folder ie: temporary internet folder There are some free programs that you can use that will do that for you if needed like CCleaner (Note in CCleaner: go to >options > advanced > Uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"). but see CCleaner Set up Then try the WebUpDate to get Latest Definition File (SE1R107 09.05.2006) as the server may have been busy but you can always download it manually but if you still can not get the update please let us know. GRAFX
-------------------- press Enter then have a Brandy then if the problem is still there have another Brandy
Q: does it work A: It does seem to for a few hours at least LandzDown ![]() |

I am another who has not been able to retrieve updates for 328 days. It says, "Error retreiving updates". I would also love some help here. A computer tech came over and deleted all my extra junk, but even she couldn't get it to do the update.

I've been encountering this issue all day as well. I came across this thread and decided to register to let others know that they're in good company. I run Ad-Aware every single day and generally have no problems downloading updates. However, today I can't get the download and it gets stuck on 5%, and when I start the program a dialog box with a white X in a red circle pops up which reads: "Error while loading the Ad-Aware definitions file." So now not only can I not get the new update but I also can't scan my comp with the definition file I was using before I checked for the update today. I don't think there's anything wrong with my comp as nothing else has run differently, my Anti-Virus program picks up nothing and I've scanned it with Spybot to be sure. I wonder what's up?

Just a suggestion:
This may or may not work but try adding < updates.ls-servers.com > to "Trusted sites" zone if you encounter definition update troubles.....(Error retreiving updates). -------------------- Expert in the field here at home.

Just a crazy question, but why are you all registering to say you can't download updates? You can see before registering that there is a problem. By registering and then posting saying "me too", what do you hope to achieve? The problem isn't going to solve itself by reporting for the hundredth that it's not working.

I just registered with some apparently "insane" hope that someone could help me solve the very same problem. I know for a fact that there is something wrong with my computer and all I want is to have it resolved. I am hoping that by having more than one person state that there is a problem with the downloads someone, somewhere who knows something will get the idea and give us some ideas to help us solve these problems. If nobody voices their problems in these forums, who's to know there is so much trouble with the same downloading errors? With so many people expressing frustration, someone will soon take notice, right? |

Um, I think the reason is so that the powers that be realize it's not an isolated or localized incident. I think everyone realizes the problem won't magically solve itself. Sheesh. |

I continue to have the problem even though I disabled my firewall, ran a complete scan, cleared the cache, etc. I was about to uninstall and reinstall the program until I read that this does not solve the problem. |
