I know already about the topic with the news, "Update: scans stall at enumerating clsid's", but.. when you have intention to resolve the problem?!
I have installed the new Ad-Aware 8.1 already from a month, and the update to the version 8.1.1, but I haven't never been able to make a complete scan! If the problem doesn't come soon resolved, I will have to change the program! I exhort you to resolve the problem very soon.. as there are many customers with my same problem, and we will have to change the program, if it doesn't work correctly! |

I wish I had an answer for you, but we have heard absolutely nothing from Lavasoft either.
I think I will try and contact some Lavasoft staff personally now. Casey This post has been edited by casey_boy: Nov 9 2009, 11:29 AM -------------------- Think your computer is Infected? Thank you very much.. I hope that this problem will come soon resolved, I continuous to having confidence in ad-aware, you do not disappoint to me! :) I too am having the same problem. I installed the new 8.1 version last night and left it scaaning over night. It spent 5+ hours at the same point "enumerating clsid's" at about 77000+ file (where I left it last night. I went aahead and shut it down in the moirning and restarted the program and the PC with the same result hanging at the same around 77000+ files. What is the problem? I'm running windows XP with Comodo firewall and avast! AV. I've checked their logs and they're not blocking anything related to Ad-Aware. |

Hi,
I too have recently installed the new version 8.1.1 and am experiencing the same problem. I start a scan and and it never finishes! The previous version never had this problem. I am running Windows Vista. I would really appreciate if you can find a solution to this problem. Thank you |

As you can see, there are many persons with this problem, and we will be all forced to change software anti-spyware, if Lavasoft will not resolve this problem very soon!
The days pass and the scannings still cannot be made.. COME ON! This post has been edited by jabura: Nov 14 2009, 10:57 AM |

I received an email fro Lavasoft recently and I believe there is a bug fix on its way soon, hopefully, it might be able to solve this - so stay tuned.
If you read the thread visitor links to you'll see he's updated it to say that Lavasoft are/have been working with users to recover information about this problem - which, of course, is the best way to try and solve it. Casey -------------------- Think your computer is Infected? Then please perform a scan with Ad-Aware 8.1 - if this does not solve the problem then read this topic and follow the instructions. HJT logs go in the "Hijack This Forum ONLY".

Just applied today's software update. It's been stuck on enumerarting CLSIDS for the past hour. The 8.1.2 changelog doesn't mention fixing this problem, or I'd have updated this thread. If you'd like to scan the rest of your system, you should be able to complete a Profile Scan without checking Critical Areas. -------------------- Before posting, please read the pinned topics atop the forums or check the Lavasoft searchable FAQs.

Sorry Visitor,I should have checked that.
I have done as you said & have run a profile scan & it completed fine. Also when it does get stuck on the CLSIDS I can now use the stop scan button & it works. |

Although it would be nice if scanning an area deemed "critical" worked, eh? Hopefully a fix is just around the corner. -------------------- Before posting, please read the pinned topics atop the forums or check the Lavasoft searchable FAQs.
