Hmmmm, not much there to tell what the problem is really. MBAM only found one lone registry key which isn't very decisive about any existing infection.
Could you please do a couple of other steps for a more thorough diagnosis 1. Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop. http://deckard.geekstogo.com/dss.exe * Close all other windows before proceeding. * Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts. * When it has finished, DSS will open two Notepad files: main.txt and extra.txt * Use Save As to save both Notepad files to your Desktop and post them in your next reply. Note:A copy of these files can be found in your root drive, usually C:\Deckard\System Scanner\ and 2. Let's get a second opinion from another antivirus program. This is an online scanner and it is free to use * Go here to run an online scannner from ESET.
I just want to see the report before letting it delete anything at the moment. -------------------- Please do NOT send Private Messages to Staff or helpers to request assistance! We do not give a personal support via PM The way to request help is to post a NEW TOPIC in the appropriate forum.

many thanks for this.
Just an update. I had set up a small network where my machine was the main machine and almost all of the information was stored on this machine on a shared drive to the others. What i did on saturday was install and run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware on all the machines (3 othesrs) and it found a few registry enteries on all the machines. once they were deleted and rebooted this morning - the probelm seems to have gone. Shall i still do all the steps? please advice |

It is difficult to tell from only one registry key in the MBAM log.
Do you have any removable media drives? If so, it could be the machine is getting reinfected when you insert one of those. I would at least recommend doing the eset scan online with any removable media drives also just to be sure and for a second opinion. The other tool is simply a deeper diagnostic tool than the HijackThis log is able to produce. But if you think the problem is resolved satisfactorily, I can just leave this topic open for a few days to see if the symptoms return. However, please note that I may have a delay in replying for the next few days as I am located directly in the path of Tropical Storm Fay (soon to be Hurricane Fay) - and might lose electrical power. -------------------- Please do NOT send Private Messages to Staff or helpers to request assistance!
