If you are participating in a topic in this subforum, then you are fixing an infected computer, with the assistance of a qualified helper. In some cases, if you are running the Plus or Pro version of Ad-Aware, the Ad-watch realtime protection may interfere with the fixes that are being made as you progress at getting your computer cleaned up.
If that is the case, then your helper may ask you to turn off or disable Ad-Watch until the infection is cleaned up to avoid that interference. Follow these steps if you are requested to turn off or disable Ad-Watch during the cleaning process. Note: Leave these setting OFF until you are done and once your computer is clean, do remember to turn them back on but only after your helper has declared the cleaning process is finished. HOW TO TURN OFF AD-WATCH in Ad-Aware 2007 or Ad-Aware 2008 1. Right-click on the Ad-Watch icon in the system tray (located down by the system clock for most configurations)  2. Choose *Settings* from the dropdown menu  3. Under the *General Settings* tab turn OFF (red x) the option to "Load Ad-Watch at Startup" (if enabled)  4. Click on the *Status* button in the left hand menu 5. Turn OFF (red x) the option for *Regshield*  6. Close that window, then right-click on the Ad-Watch icon shield again down in the system tray next to the clock. 7. Choose *Turn off Ad-Watch* from the drop menu  Ad-Watch should now be closed and no longer appear in the system tray. When you are done with the cleaning process and your helper gives you the "all-clear" on the infection, please remember to turn back ON your Ad-Watch settings and preferences as you prefer. NOTE: For SE Ad-Aware users. SE is obsolete and no longer supported. You need to uninstall the SE version and you can get the updated versions of Ad-Aware 2008 after your computer has been cleaned. -------------------- Please do NOT send Private Messages to Staff or helpers to request assistance! HOW TO TURN OFF AD-WATCH in Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition
1. Start Ad-Aware 2. Click the Ad-Watch Live! tab 3. Click the settings button 4. Ensure all highlighted options bellow are unchecked:
5. Close the Ad-Aware main window 6. Shut down Ad-Aware and Ad-Watch Live! by right clicking on the system tray icon:

If you need help to remove an infection: Read this first. Follow ALL the steps in it. If you do not then you will just be asked to go away and do so. Then post your HJT log (copy and paste, don't attach) into a NEW topic in the HJT Log Forum Await advice from either a Volunteer Security Advisor or a member of Lavasoft staff. If you see anyone other than a VSA or Lavasoft staff member giving advice in the HijackThis forum please PM a mod. DO NOT POST HJT LOGS IN ANY FORUM OTHER THAN THE OFFICIAL HJT LOG FORUM. We will be unable to deal with them there and will just tell you to go to the right place. Please do NOT bump HijackThis log posts, it won't help you receive help any faster - the VSAs look for posts with zero replies. If after one week you have not received a response please repost your log file in a NEW thread. |
