I've tried several times to download the FREE Ad-Aware 2007 to no avail. It will download for a few minutes (I have dial-up) and then I get the following error message:
C:\DocumentsandSettings\Tweety\Temporary Internal Files\content.IE5YTU08DG\aaw.2007[1].exe is not a valid win 32 application I do not understand this. What do I need to do to get the FREE Ad-Aware 2007 downloaded? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you This post has been edited by tweety: May 1 2008, 02:12 AM |

Hi tweety what's your current browser ? was SE installed before ? what's your OS Raziel Browser is Internet Explorer OS is Windows XP Professional Yes, I had previously downloaded the free SE. When I noticed I wasn't getting updates, I went to the Lavasoft site and that's when I saw the 2007 and tried the download several times to no avail. I uninstalled SE prior to trying the download. Hi again
download Windows Install Clean Up ( Wicu by MS ). Run Wicu and delete all SE references. Start/Run > execute > type ' cleanmgr '> enter > drive 'c' > ok > checkmark temp.files/temp. internet files/recycle bin > run Reboot. Run a windows search for SE traces and delete them manually. Reboot and try a new installation. Btw it looks like your still using ie5, think about an update. Let us know how it works for you. Cheerio Raziel -------------------- requiescat in pacem

C:\DocumentsandSettings\Tweety\Temporary Internal Files\content.IE5YTU08DG\aaw.2007[1].exe is not a valid win 32 application Your "download" did not complete and is now a corrupted file in your Browser cache. That location of Temporary internet files is the in the browser cache. On dialup it will take more than a few minutes to download the file because it is rather large at something over 18mb. Clear your browser cache by deleting the content of the Temporary Internet files in IE. An easy way to do this is go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr Wait while Windows searches for and then provides a list of files to delete. Make sure these 3 are checkmarked: Temporary internet files Temporary files Recycle bin Then press *ok* to delete them (this may take a few minutes) That will clear your browser cache of the unusable corrupted download. The current version of Ad-Aware is now Ad-Aware 2008. 1. Go Here to download the latest version of Ad-Aware 2008: 2. Make sure you are choosing to *save* the file - not run. ![]() 3. Save the downloaded file to a location easy to find (like your Desktop). ![]() When the download is complete, locate the installation file aaw2008.exe on your desktop and run it from there to install. aaw2008.exe file size is about 18.2 mb (so that will take more than just a few minutes to get the entire download) -------------------- Please do NOT send Private Messages to Staff or helpers to request assistance!
