This is the second time I've tried.. In between I've deinstalled it completely and restarted multiple times..

AAW 2007 is up to date with definitions and software updates
Whenever I try to start a scan, it just sits there and sais:

Current section: Scanning active processes
Current path: Waiting for scanner...
Current object: Waiting for scanner...

Selected Scan Mode: Full Scan
Definitions File: 0008.0000

And nothing happens for hours....

And hitting 'Stop scan' does nothing at all....

Using Win2k SP4 with all patches

Are you still having a problem?

Be sure to update to the latest version of Ad-Aware as I believe this problem was corrected in a subsequent update last week. See this topic (user also running W2k)

I'm encountering the same problem after updating Ad-Aware 2007 tonight.

I'm using version 19.0000, updated just tonight (9/9/07 at 9:29pm CDT)

I try to run a full scan. . .Ad-Aware just says Waiting for scanner. . .and does nothing.

Also, when I rerun the Update, I get no message saying that I already have the latest update. Ad-Aware should always return a message whether I'm current or an update is needed, right?

I am also getting the Ad-Aware 2007 "Waiting for Scanner" message on Windows 2000. Have the latest updates installed

This problem started with and I'd hoped that the new version would fix it but it's the same.

Have others experienced this problem lately on Windows 2000 SP4 with all patches applied?

I've discovered that after getting "Waiting for Scanner" if you try to close Ad-Aware then manually shut-down the Ad-Aware 2007 Service using Windows Services and wait for it to time-out (because it won't shut-down in a timely fashion), if you restart the Ad-Aware 2007 Service manually from Windows Services, scanning works okay.

This may be a work-around for some - it worked for me!

I've since discovered that the above method of stopping the Ad-Aware 2007 Service manually and restarting it is not a reliable way of getting it to scan successfully. Something needs to be done to fix this problem on Windows 2000.
