Here is a brief explanation of some of the various member groups that may be helping you or responding to your posts. The color types match those names you see in color in the "online list" of members located at the bottom of the main forum page under "Board Statistics":

Administrator and Global Moderators

These are Lavasoft employees who may be browsing the forum in their free time away from their "official" duties at the office. The Administrators handle all aspects of the site's day-to-day operations. This includes setting configuration options, managing user accounts, and fixing site problems. The Admin(s) are also responsible for virtually all of the inner workings of the forum software features. Global Moderators (group: Moderators) are also LS Staff who have similar powers the Admins have. All moderators on all forums can move discussions to different sections of the forum, "close" discussions to prevent users from continuing to discuss them, as well as edit the content of individual postings. Moderators will sometimes also answer questions or help people with problems.

Volunteer Security Advisors

A Volunteer Security Advisor (VSA) is a volunteer who has either permission to respond to HijackThis logs in the HijackThis forum or may be a recognized security expert who volunteers their time to help folks with various spyware/infection problems and/or security software and Windows problems. They are usually qualified in the removal of malware and are thus given permission to help people with spyware removal via HijackThis logs. Members of this group also have some moderating powers to assist members in getting their posts to the right area, handling edits - moving and splitting topics as needed, etc.

Valued Members

These are usually our Ad-Aware 2007 & 2008 Beta testers and/or Ad-Aware software experts. These volunteers are frequent posters in the forums and have experience and knowledge about Ad-Aware and other Lavasoft products. They are also usually quite knowledgeable about other types of security software and general PC security and may be helping you with questions you may have in these areas. Members of this group also have some moderating powers to assist other members in getting their posts to the right area, handling edits - moving and splitting topics as needed, etc.

Member

A Member is someone who registers and validates their membership and utilizes the site to their advantage. All members are customers who have questions or problems with their Lavasoft Products, and who come to seek help from the Lavasoft Support Forum.
