The following major changes have been made to Ad-Aware 10.5:

• Increased performance and compatibility.
• Improved web browsing protection.
• Improved detection engine that increases scan speed.

The installation program has been rewritten and it will behave differently than Ad-Aware 10.4 depending on the circumstances:

Alternative 1: An incompatible antivirus program is not detected and the Ad-Aware toolbar is not installed

The first installation screen displays three options:

• Express install
• Compatible install
• Custom install

... plus check-boxes for the Safe Browsing Add-on, a pull-down menu for language selection and a link to license agreement.

1. Express install
Installation starts immediately.
If Ad-Aware is not already installed, only the driver for real-time protection is installed.
If Ad-Aware already is installed, the same type of drivers will continue to be installed.

2. Compatible install
A window will inform that Ad-Aware can be installed as a 2nd line of defence, that is as a complement to another antivirus program. If accepted, the installation will continue and no drivers are installed. If any Ad-Aware drivers already are installed, they will be removed.

3. Custom install
It is possible to change the destination folder, to select if Ad-Aware shall be installed in compatible mode, to select if the Safe Browsing Add-on shall be installed, and to select if a desktop icon shall be created.
