Which version of Ad-Aware did you have before you installed Ad-Aware 10.2?
Do you see any Ad-Aware processes in Task Manager (first select to show processes for all users)?

I have been a regular use of the free versions of the regular Lavasoft Ad-Aware.
The only process I have in Task Manager is Adaware.exe. There are no other (spyware detectors or antivirus processes running) My services says it was stopped due to timing out. I killed the process and attempt again. Same thing. No other Ad-awareprocesses are showing up. When I try to force the Ad-Aware service to start I get the 1053 error message.
I click the Adaware Antivirus. My Vista machine will think but nothing will happen.

Download and run the special Avira RegistryCleaner tool: http://www.avira.com/en/downloads
Restart the computer and try to install Ad-Aware again. Right-click the installation file and select "Run as administrator" to be sure the installation program runs with all permissions.

Remember to show processes for all users.open Task Manager and kill AdAware.exe, all AdAwareLauncher.exe and AdAwareService.exe (if they are there) and try to start the program.
Start menu - All programs - Accessories
Right-click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator".
Enter the following commands in the "Command Prompt" window:
"\Program Files\Ad-Aware Antivirus\AdAware.exe" /regserver
"\Program Files\Ad-Aware Antivirus\AdAwareService.exe" /regserver
"\Program Files\Ad-Aware Antivirus\AdAwareService.exe" -service
End each command with the Enter key.
If you get any error messages, please write them here.
Try to start Ad-Aware again.
The above commands are for 32 bits Windows Vista and 7.
