Last night I had a pop-up show up on my desktop, supposedly from Lavasoft, saying that there was a problem with my credit report and a link to a site to get help. I click on the link and it took me to a site at http://idsecure.lava....com/learnmore/.
The site look to be connected to Lavasoft but nothing shows up on the actual Lavasoft site regarding this service.
I am guessing that I have downloaded some malware that is generating the pop-up and taking me to a phony Lavasoft site.
Does anyone know anything about this?
If this is a virus or Trojan, does anyone know how to get rid of it?
Thanks,
Sledge

Hi Sledge,
I think it is the Identity Protection feature in Ad-Aware 10, and not some kind of malware. I have heard that it's available in two variants, "Basic" that is included in Ad-Aware 10 and "Premium" that costs extra. Since the feature is only for US Citizen, I don't know any details.
