Have you turned off the "System Restore" feature?
It is a valuable feature sometimes.

8/08/2012 10:31:22 p.m., Error: Disk [11] - The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1.
4/08/2012 4:38:05 p.m., Error: Disk [11] - The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR3.
The above error messages in Event Viewer sometimes means that the hard disk has a problem. A failing hard disk could give many strange symptoms.
I advise you to test the hard disk with its manufacturer's test program, which can be found on the manufacturer's web site. If you don't know who has manufactured the hard disk, look into the Device Manager to find the article number of the hard disk. It is usually easier to find the test program with the help of
http://www.tacktech....ay.cfm?ttid=287 than searching manufacturer's web site. Please, ask if you need more explanations.
But I think the reason that Action Center displays a warning about Ad-Aware during a short time period after you log in, is that Ad-Aware hasn't had the time to inform Action Center that it is running before Action Center decides that it isn't running. The core parts of Ad-Aware starts before you log in, so the computer is definitely secure.
Please, restart the computer and run DDS without turning off Ad-Aware. Post DDS.txt and I can check that all parts of Ad-Aware are running.
