It is most unfortunate, but I am to report that upon performing a clean boot (on a clean machine), there is no doubt that Ad-Aware Antivirus + causes lagging, programs slow to install, etc. The machine is a malware-free Windows 7 64-bit computer. It is the only active antivirus software on the computer, but not the only active security product. The other products; however, do not seem to interfere with the operation of the program. It has only been a major problem since the introduction of Lavasoft's newest version that was released on or around July 28th, 2012. The other active security products on the system are Trusteer Rapport, and Comodo Firewall (which has a cloud anti-virus component that one can disable or enable).

I do not need any help with computer issues, as the simple fix is to substitute Avira for Adaware and the problem disappears completely! I just would like to report this to those who are in a position to improve the software and fix the bugs.

All the best,

Hi Brandon,

I think there was some kind of conflict between Ad-Aware and Trusteer Rapport or Comodo. Usually disabling a component in a program doesn't remove the driver and when dealing with conflicts between antivirus and similar programs it is drivers that are important.

I'm using Ad-Aware 10 on Windows 7 64-bit without any lags or slow installations of programs etc.

Even if LS Digger Barnes' explanation about possible conflicts with other security programs in the post http://www.lavasofts...ndpost&p=125582 is written for Ad-Aware 9 Pro, the principle is still the same. A more technical explanation is written in http://www.lavasofts...post__p__136994 by LS Andy.

If you want to have better anti-spyware protection than Avira has, you can still use Ad-Aware 9.6, which can be downloaded from FileHippo.

For the future see the post http://www.lavasofts...post__p__137027 by LS Andy.
