I have to agree with several of the other posts. AdAware has a very nice spy-ware detection algorithm. Shame it does not seem to be available on its own anymore.
The Ad-Aware Antivirus is annoying at best. Giving unneeded balloon tips (you minimized Ad-Aware, but it is still protecting your system) and slowing down the system noticably (my processor uses up to 50% cpu for the background scans).
I would say: -1 (freeware) customer, which I regret, but I do not see a better choice.

Hi sks,
There are "Performance Settings" in Ad-Aware 10 that can be used to lower the CPU usage during scans, when someone wants to do other work at the computer simultaneously, instead of running scans when the computer isn't used.
It is still possible to use Ad-Aware 9.6, which can be downloaded from FileHippo.
