Check if a dump file has been created:
  • Navigate to C:WindowsMinidump
  • Collect the most recent .dmp file and upload it with your post after packing it into a zip file
If there are no .dmp files, your system may not be configured to generate dump files.

To configure dump file settings:
  • Click on Start -> Run
    XP Start run.png
  • Type sysdm.cpl into the Run window and click OK
  • Click on the Advanced tab in the System Properties window
  • Click the Settings button within Startup and Recovery
    XP sys prop.png
  • Click OK and restart machine if prompted, saving any open files first.
  • In the System failure area, configure as follows:

    a. Check the Write an event to the system log box
    b. Check the Send an administrative alert box
    c. Do not check the Automatically restart box
    d. Select Small memory dump (64 KB) from the drop down list
    e. Set the Dump file: location to %SystemRoot%Minidump
    f. Check the Overwrite any existing file box
