Hi all,

I am using window xp service pack 3,
Laptop: Lenovo X201

Previously, I am using the old version Ad adware FREE version.
It prompt me that I cannot able to update and need to uninstall & upgrade to new ad-adware version.

Therefore, i downloaded from it from here;
http://download.cnet...j=dl&tag=button

Half way through the installation, it turn out to BLUE SCREEN.

My anti-virus is already disable and even uninstall and the window firewall is also disable.
Again, install the ad-ware free version still cannot & turn to Blue screen.

Pls advise whether this version is suitable for window XP serivce pack 3?

Seek for your kind advise. thanks.

Hi ban,

Yes, Ad-Aware 10.x is compatible with XP service pack 3. But unfortunately there seems to be problems with some computers.

Did you have Ad-Aware 9.6 or an earlier version?
The installation program of Ad-Aware 10 can only handle uninstallations of 9.6 properly and it is best to uninstall older versions manually.

Most antivirus programs need a special removal/clean-up program after the usual uninstallation to remove everything of it. See, for example, this list: http://www.raymond.c...virus-software/

Since you have a really serious problem with Ad-Aware 10, you might contact Lavasoft directly if you prefer that: http://lavasoft.com/..._problem_report

Ban,

Disabling anti virus is not enough there might be conflict and may cause BSOD like you are facing now.

Hi all,
Managed to re-install back Ad-Aware 9.6 and it run very smooth without any problem.
But it keeps prompt me to upgrade to NEW version 10 free.

How to disable the prompt to upgrade NEW ad-aware version?

It seems that the NEW version ad-ware Free is still encounter some problems.
It is not adviseable to install the upgrade version.
Better stick back to old version, 9.6 ad-ware Free.

A anti virus main weapon to combat virus is signature update no matter how good a anti virus is it will not block malware if it doesn't contain signature to deal with.
My suggestion is remove antivirus you have with revo uninstaller try to install ad-aware 10.1

How to disable the prompt to upgrade NEW ad-aware version?

Hi ban,

Lavasoft is working with an update of 9.6 where it will be possible to select in the prompt windows that you don't want to see it again. It was planned to be released on Friday, but maybe it has been delayed some days.
