1. I thought I was getting a free product when I followed all the links from the previous version pop-up to the Lavasoft site to the Cnet download, and went through the install.... Everything said FREE, FREE, FREE. Then when I look at the version info it says I got PRO TRIAL. What's up with that? Is there a free version anymore?

2. I cannot turn off the scheduled Auto Scan. Every time my PC comes out of standby it begins the auto scan again.

Hi Hammerdown,

1. The downloaded version is a 30 day trial of the Pro version and at the end of the trial period (or earlier if you prefer that) it will revert to the free version (after a special activation/registration).

2. At the moment Ad-Aware not always remember the settings for scheduled scan. Please, enter your wanted schedule, exit Ad-Aware by right-clicking the icon next to the clock in lower right corner and then restart the computer. Ad-Aware should now remember the settings.

Lavasoft has not been able to reproduce your problems yet. Please, provide them with some more information.
Which Windows-version do you have? Is it 32 or 64 bits if you have Vista or Windows 7?
Do you have another antivirus program or other type of security related program running?

CeciliaB,

You say here that we may revert to Free before the 30 day Pro trial is over. How? I can't find a way.

Hi ADecker,

You can disable everything below "Advanced Protection" on main screen of Ad-Aware or after some days when Windows starts you will see a pop-up from Ad-Aware with the message that the trial period will expire in xx days. When that message is displayed you click its "Activate" button and follows the instructions.

Vista Business 32 SP2 windows update run weekly
AVG Free 2012

Another bug:
When "Safe browsing" is enabled, IE9 crashes when I open a link in a new Tab. Disable "Safe browsing" and problem goes away.

Thanks, Hammerdown.
I'll forward the information to my contact person at Lavasoft.

Regarding "Safe browsing", it is possible that there is a conflict between that and a similar function in AVG. It should be enough with one web protection.

Lavasoft has now been able to reproduce the problem with the scans. It only occurs when AVG is installed at the same time as Ad-Aware, so it is some kind of conflict between the two programs.

uhu...

Is it possible to NOT run Adaware 10 at startup? I want to keep the program installed on my computer for "emergency" scans, but I do not want all the services running at in the background. And I don't want to have to un-install it.

Then you manually has to inactivate the services of Ad-Aware and the automatic start of its user interface.
