I run a paid for version of Pro on a windows XP Pro machine and a free version on Windows 7. The nag screen on XP Pro has no visable buttons Just a white square with writing. The Windows 7 version has buttons. Remind me later (left Side) and a button that lets you go to a site to download (right side). Before I knew this I had to use CTRL ALT DEL and select the eGLSpashScreen in applications until i realised I only need click around the bottom left of the square to make it go away even though I could not see buttons. Not sure this is a fault but I would like it not to start up in the first place after a couple of days.

Unfortunately, unless Ad-aware run a version that does not conflict with other AV software - 9.6 doesn't - then I wont be going to 10. Surely they realise that this is why folks use their software rather than go down the AV route. There is a place in the market for a 9.6 version type of program.

On my XP Pro machine I run:

Bitdefender 2009 AV with realtime ( which will be supported for at least the next 2 years with definitions)
Ad-Aware Pro - with realtime on
Malwarebytes with the protection module on
WinPatrolPlus

They all run together.

Hi moemoff,

Do you still run an antivirus from 2009?
Even if you still get new definitions, the program will certainly miss the functions that are necessary to deal with modern types of virus and other malware. Are you sure that you cannot upgrade to a newer version for free? I know that most antivirus companies provide and encourage that.

Since you have bought the product, you can use the Lavasoft support instead of this forum with volunteers: http://lavasoft.com/...contact_support

So can we kill the nag screen on the free Ad-Aware 9...??
From InformIT: "There are only two types of computer users: those who have had a system failure,
and those who will. If you aren’t backing up your data, you’re playing with fire."
External Hard Drives are cheap

Nice that it works for you :)

One of the new features of BitDefender 2012 is "Virtualized Browser" that certainly will improve online safety, see http://www.bitdefend.../antivirus.html and that is only compared to version 2011. BitDefender stopped supporting version 2009 a year ago according to http://www.bitdefend...tml#matrix_home where they write that those users should start to use version 2011.

After an update planned to be released this week, the nag screen will have a check box that can be ticked when you don't want to see the reminder again.

Just a comment on ad-aware 9.6: I am new to this posting business so if this is in the wrong place forgive me, but in addition to the version 10.x not updating (which I won't use until the problems are sorted out after reading the tales throughout this forum). I also with to state that I am not able to get 9.6 to update either. The last update was on 5/29/2011, and I am sure there were updates since then. Any ideas?

Hi technaive3,

Yes, there have been updates since 5/29/2011 and it shouldn't be any problems with the update servers.
Have you checked that "Download and install updated automatically" is selected?
