I am using Ad-Aware 9.6 with Ad-Watch disabled. I only start the program when I want to perform a manual scan and/or update Ad-Aware. Can I use version 10 like 9.6 with Norton 360?

It is not recommended to use two antivirus at a time even with realtime protecton off driver may conflict with each other and may cause blue screen.

Hi a123,
Lavasoft does not recommend that Ad-Aware is installed in a computer where another antivirus program is already installed. It is possible that you can get it to work but it is also possible that you will get problems as BSOD.

As a registered user of Ad-Aware Pro I sent Lavasoft support a question asking them to confirm that they do not recommend running version 10 with another anti-virus program such as Norton. I also asked them if it was possible to disable Ad-Aware Pro's built in anti-virus engine and if so could it then be run with Norton on the same machine.
Been more than 1 week since I submitted the question and still no repsonse. Does anyone here know if using Ad-Aware Pro forces you to use their anti-virus engine or is it possible to somehow use another anti-virus software.

Hi carjimz,
It is not the engine(s) itself that can have conflicts with other antivirus programs, it is the real-time protections in two products. Ad-Aware 10 is a full-featured antivirus program and is not supposed to be combined with other antivirus programs. See LS Digger Barnes' explanation about possible conflicts with other security programs in the post http://www.lavasofts...ndpost&p=125582 , the principle is the same in Ad-Aware 10.
You can continue to use Ad-Aware 9.6 if you don't want to switch from Norton to Ad-Aware.

CeciliaB, Thanks for the response. I read the links you pointed me to. As you said it sounds like the real-time protection in Ad-Aware Pro 10 is the issue. I can't beleive Lavasoft would make a product that prevents you from using another vendor's product, in this case Norton. There must be a way to turn off Ad-Aware's real time protection so you can use Norton's real time protection. Is there such an option available either before or after installation of version 10? I really want to run version 10 but also want to continue using Norton.
If you say that most of the version 10 problems being experienced are around the use of multiple real time protection processes then I would think Lavasoft would want to provide a way for people to resolve this issue easily by providing an on/off option to turn real time on / off. I would think they stand to lose a lot of customers otherwise.

carjimz, you are welcome
There is a possibility to turn off the real-time protection in Ad-Aware after installation, but I don't know if that is enough since the drivers will still be running. It is probably better chance when 10.1 is released and that will be rather soon. It is not always one company's fault that two products cannot run at the same time, it might be necessary that both products are adapted to give the other product necessary space.
You are lucky that could use Norton and Ad-Aware 9 Pro at the same time, that was not recommended by Lavasoft.
