I already have Microsoft Security Essentials installed on my computer, but I want to extend my security, and I am looking at the free edition of Ad-Aware.
I read about it a little bit on the website, and I saw that it now has an anti-virus engine.
Is it possible, or even recommended, to install and use Ad-Aware alongside MSE?

Hi ido,

Lavasoft does not recommend that Ad-Aware 10 is installed alongside other antivirus programs. It is hard to tell at the moment since Ad-Aware 10 has not been out long enough for antivirus testing companies to test it, but since it contains the Vipre engine and Vipre usually get better test results than MSE, it is high probability that your computer is more secure with Ad-Aware 10 than with MSE.

@ido: you can have both MS Security Essentials and Ad-aware 10 installed on your computer, which I do have both on all my machines. however, you need to turn off MSE's "Real Time Protection" feature if you have Ad-aware's own real-time protection feature enabled to avoid potential antivirus conflicts (and system hangups).
