Here the other day i decided to install Ad-Aware to check if there was anything nasty on my computer.

It did not find anything nasty on my computer, but decided that 7 files (4 of wich i have made and compiled myself) was viruses and deleted them without even asking me first. I went to the Quarantine section to recover them, but after i hit recover the files did not come back.

Now the Quarantine list is empty, the files are not there and i feel like installing ad-aware was was the worst mistake in my life. Have Ad-Aware just permanently deleted my files or is there some magic way to recover them?

Hi caption,

I assume it is Ad-Aware 9.6 you installed.

Ad-Aware stores the quarantined files in this folder:
XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Quarantine
Vista and 7 - C:\ProgramData\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Quarantine

If that is not enough, please, post the log where it is possible to see what Ad-Aware did:
XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Logs\Scan_<date information>.log
Vista and 7 - C:\ProgramData\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\Logs\Scan_<date information>.log
