The update manager flashes for a milli second and then nothing happens. This is on windows XP. Any ideas why
this is happening?

Hi Rowntree,
Do you get any messages or crash dumps this time?

I'm having the same problem. My OS is Windows 7 64-bit.No. Nothing this time
Whenever I attempt update, it only crashes and restarts, with no error messages. Uninstall and reinstall went nowhere. What else do I do??? I guess I am out of luck until a member of the Lavasoft team responds to this.
Thank you very much,
Ben Edge (ClassicTVMan1981X)

Do you get any events in the Event Viewer at the same time as the update crashes?
The support for the free version of Ad-Aware is community based and it is seldom Lavasoft staff visit the forum.

My OS is also Windows 7 64 bit and I tried downloading another file and updating again today and it still won't work.
It starts but then displays an error message which says there is a problem with the Windows Installer Package, and that a program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected, and to contact the package vendor.
Anyone able to offer any advice please?

Is it possible for you to install or uninstall other programs that are using 'Windows Installer'? Usually that message indicates a general Windows problem and not a problem with a specific installation.
