emailscanner.dll problem

Hi

In the last month I have encountered the following problem. I am running the free version of AdAware 8.2.3; my OS is Windows XP SP3. MS Outlook pops up a dialogue box that says, "Outlook experienced a serious error the last time the add-in 'ad-aware email scanner' was opened. Would you like to disable this add-in?". If I say No Outlook shuts down, if I say Yes Outlook runs OK but I have lost my email scanner as the dll has been disabled.

Is there a problem with the scanner or is there, perhaps, a problem with Windows?

Yes, there's a problem with the email scanner. It was designed for Outlook 2003 and later, but it still doesn't work right. Lavasoft is aware of the problem, so you need to disable it until they release an update. AVG Free has an email scanner too.

Just learned that Lavasoft plans to discontinue the email scanner feature, so there won't be an update to fix it. I'll close this thread now as more info from Lavasoft will follow later.
