Hello all.
The Ad-Aware version 8.1 works fine with Windows 7 64 bits but when I choose to update Ad-Aware to version 8.2.2. the computer becomes extra slow in all functions and speccialy with the explorer bar and with the internet explorer. In other words it becames highly unstable and impossible to work with. The problem is only solved with the full uninstall of Ad-Aware.
Does any one has the same problem because I´m unable to speak with Lavasoft Assistance. Any idea why this happens?
Regards to all.

The problem seems to be the installer - it installs an older, buggy version of 8.2 that needs to be updated to 8.2.2 through the GUI, tray icon, or start menu. If you can successfully update, it should be more stable. We've been asking Lavasoft if they'll release a new installer which installs 8.2.2 directly since many people can't update, but so far they have not responded to our post.

Thanks for the feedback; if you agree, I will wait for your news and keep working with the 8.1.2 version.

Regards.

OK, I'll close this thread for now and reopen it to post any news if we hear from Lavasoft.

Updated info from Lavasoft:

The problems with AAW 8.2 mostly relate to the File protection having conflicts with other AVs and also being more demanding on resources in general (which affect low spec systems). However, these should be Plus and Pro users and you can redirect them to
http://www.lavasoft....contact_support

Or are you seeing this with regular FREE users too?

Anyway, the update issues are related to the symptoms of getting a slow system and/or crashing AAW application. The user just don't get to that stage where the update to 8.2.2 finishes.
So the only resolution that really works is:

1. Uninstall 8.2 completely (to reset the system to a normal state: not slow)
2. Then reinstall. Even though the installer is 8.2 the updates to 8.2.2 will be included in the installation. The Ad-Aware installer always checks for updates (and downloads and applies them) before initializing the service and other AAW processes for the first time.
3. Then Ad-Aware will advise that File protection will be turned off if another incompatible AV is running.
4. Problem fixed?

If this procedure is still not working, please report this here and we will address the issue. New installer is not the answer though since the uninstall and reinstall procedure would be required anyway and basically be the same. Any bugs and compatibility issues would be our focus.
