I've noticed the last 5-8 times of running a full system scan (approximately once a week on Fridays), when the report is generated upon completion, it states that ~35447 objects were scanned (much fewere the the ~300k objects scanned before in the past.)
I've actually ran Ad-Aware 'Full Scan' and watched the counter pass 35447 then leave and when I view the scan report upon completion, it always reports that it only scanned ~35447 objects. Is this something specific to Ad-Aware 8.2, is there a bug, or it is normal, or do you think my system is infected?

While my system is generally slow (has been ever since I updated to Windows XP Pro SP3) I don't believe my system is infected and I've run Symantec Norton as well as Malwarebytes with no issues.

I'm running a 3.0ghz P4, Windows XP Pro SP3, IE8, and Ad-Aware 8.2.

This is a known bug with 8.2 and has been reported to Lavasoft. Casey_boy thought it might be just dropping of the 6th digit, but some have also reported full scans taking far less time than before. Due to this and some other bugs, we've been recommending a rollback to version 8.1 until they release an update. You can download 8.1 installer here:

http://download.lava...nstallation.exe

Use Revo Free Uninstaller (revouninstaller.com) on the highest setting and after uninstall, let it remove all remnants.
Then after 8.1 installs, turn off auto-updates so it doesn't update to 8.2.

Also, if you want to update definitions only, without the software updates, here are the instructions:

http://www.lavasoft....hat-should-i-do

Download the core.zip file, unzip, and place the core.aawdef file into the defs folder. Then reboot or exit/restart Ad-Aware to reload the new defs. The new definition number should appear on the main screen, even if the date of the last update is not correct (the date corresponds to the last Web Update of both software and defs).
