I also keep getting this error. I posted a screenshot of the problem -- the error box pops up twice. I made sure to run the updater and I also uninstalled/reinstalled twice and still have the same issue. I also ran my antivirus (Avast) as well as Windows Defender to make sure that malware wasn't preventing the program from running. I suppose its a bug in the program (8.2). Any ideas?

Like I've stated for the 3rd time now... you gotta:

go to add and remove programs and remove the 8.2 version.
Then re-install this version: http://filehippo.com...nload_ad-aware/

It works then.

Hi, I've got the same problems as above so was going to try to revert to the earlier version you mentioned, but the link you quoted points to version 8.2 Not 8.1

I'm thinking I'm gonna have to reinstall the OS to fix this OS....unless anyone has any better ideas..?

The prior versions are listed along the right margin.

I added this to the list of 8.2 bugs, but have you updated yesterday's 8.2 fix?

The "Fix" posted on the website is to launch Ad-Aware 8.2 and click on "Web Update". I tried this and got the same error: "Ad-Aware was shut down unexpectedly... etc"

Koby is right. Fortunately I keep copies of the older installation programs so can easily revert to the working version.

I'm one of the "limited number of our Ad-Aware users" using Windows XP who's experiencing this problem. In my case I'm running the SP3 version of WinXP, if that makes any difference.

Any news on this problem?
Is it safe to install/update to 8.2?
