Released November 18th, 2009

Change log:

• Fixed - Issue that registry rules are not saved in Ad-Watch.
• Fixed - Crash after registeration.
• Fixed - Minor issue with the scan progress bar.
• Fixed - Process protection so that suspicious processes is blocked after timed-out.
• Fixed - Scan freeze with Norton installed on the system.
• Fixed - Hanging on startup for some users
• Fixed - All notification will be suppressed when GUI is in simple mode.
• Added – New Genotype definitions file format.

Hi all,

This thread will be used to post details about software update information for our users of Ad-Aware 8.1. These are updates to your software program itself (different from definition updates) and often includes bug fixes and improvements.

Since these are announcements only, this thread is read only. Should you have questions or need assistance with a particular update, please post a new topic in this forum and someone will be along to assist when possible.

Software Update 8.1.3
Released December 17, 2009

This update won't have noticeable effect to the program as almost all the changes this time are back end fixes so Ad-Aware users should not notice any differences. However there might be some decreases on the GUI launch time.

The latest version of Ad-Aware is 8.1.3. To check which version you are using click the 'About' button at the bottom right. In the window that opens you can see the version number just below Ad-Aware. If you are using an older version just click 'web-update' to download and update to the latest version.

The main fix in this latest version is a decrease in the GUI launch time.

Ad-Aware 8.2.1 Released

This morning the Ad-Aware 8.2.1 software update was released. This update includes:

* Improved whitelisting for Ad-Watch
In cases where Ad-Watch detects files or processes as being suspicious, but users want to run the software anyway, Ad-Watch now has improved whitelisting capabilities, allowing these users to make exceptions for these programs.

* Ad-Watch Files turns itself off when incompatible software is found
Incompabilities between the Ad-Watch Files module, introduced in 8.2, and similar functionality in other security software has caused some systems to freeze up. This functionality looks for incompatible software and deactivates the Ad-Watch Files module if it detects any on the user's computer.

Today we released an update to Ad-aware that includes the following:

* Windows Security Center

The Windows Security Center used to indicate that you were out of protection, even though Ad-Watch was in fact running; this has now been fixed. As an added bonus, you should now be able to turn Ad-Watch on from the Security Center as well.

* Ad-Watch Modules Stay Turned Off

The issue where Ad-Watch modules would re-enable themselves automatically has now been resolved.

* ESET NOD32 Incompatibility Detection

The incompatibility check now properly detects ESET NOD32 on 64-bit systems.

Released May 11, 2010

An Ad-Aware software update has been released. The contents of the update can be seen below.

• Visual Studio 2010
  A fix for an issue that made Ad-Aware crash when installing Visual Studio 2010.
• AV Definitions
  Update to the way incremental updates are applied for the definitions
  
• Cleanup of Old Update Files
  Functionality that cleans up old update files when they are no longer needed.

What's in the update:

Software update 8.2.6 was released today. June 29, 2010

It includes:

A fix for a bug affecting detection of cookies
When scanning for cookies, the bug caused the cookie scanner to stop before looking through all locations where cookies are stored. The bug affected only cookie detection, and it only occurred on some systems.

Already have a valid Ad-Aware license? If you have a valid Ad-Aware license, update to the new version free of charge by clicking ‘Update now’ on the update screen that loads when you startup Ad-Aware. You can also update to the new version through the Lavasoft Support Center by following these three steps:

1. Log-in to the Support Center and download Ad-Aware from the download link option in the "My downloads" menu.

2. Start the installation. The previous version will be automatically uninstalled before installing Ad-Aware.

3. Ad-Aware will recognize your previous license information and the new features will be activated automatically when the program is started.

Archive Scanning:
Some changes have been made to the archive scanning, improving Ad-Aware's ability to find malware within archives.

Updated whitelist:
A number of trusted programs have been added to the Ad-Aware whitelist, making sure that they are not detected.

A fix for an bug where Ad-Aware would crash in the Scheduler on some systems.

Fix for a bug that in extremely rare cases could cause system crashes.
