Yes thank you, I did do that! Also, since you're using pro you can contact support, via the support center, to ask them about this too.
I have used Ad-Aware for years and I hate to see such as this happen to it.

But that was already the case before...reason why I only used Ad-Aware once a week.
I have also installed on my PC differend Norton products (NIS NSW Ghost).

My personal experience was that before Lavasoft introduced the loading banner way back in 8.0.3 (I think) Ad-Aware AE loaded instantly. Then along came the banner and it took a few seconds to load which I was fine with. But in the recent 8.1 (and I'm sure it didn't happen during the beta) I do have to wait a good 15s for it to load.
I'm not sure what has changed to make this change and whilst my experience isn't as bad as yours, for example, it is still noticeable.
Anyway, lets hope something can be done

Well I have stated what I am going to do. After one more week of this BS I am going back to Anniversary Edition and when my subscription runs out I am going to purchase another program. Hell it took 6 months or more for them to fix the download problem in the version before Anniversary Edition so I don't expect to see it fixed any time soon.Well I'm glad you got a response (I haven't
) and at least it means they are working on the problem. I know it's frustrating, believe me.

Simple: buy a dual core system with 4gb of ram and a dedicated 512mb video graphics card

Bull! I have an i7 @ 3.6Ghz, 12GB of ram, and a dedicated 1GB graphics card and it still takes longer than 15 seconds to load! It is, by far, the slowest program to load on my system. I have to agree with the assessment relative to AE. AE ran like a deer. This version runs like a pig. No excuses for slower performance without a whole lot of added features or functionality.
I know this is a rant, but it can't be too difficult to fix this. There are either a ton of dead-end calls or this is simply the most inefficient coding job I've ever encountered. Regardless, the code authors and, especially, editors are either clueless or careless. Either way, they need to be thoroughly dressed down and then sacked for this allowing this garbage to hit the streets.
Counterpoints welcome...

Not quite. My anecdotal evidence is a ~15 load time and those are my specs.Bull!
Anyway, I do agree that there is something wrong here and there must be room for optimization - so we will wait to see what Lavasoft come up with.

I'd love to know your setup to get this to load in under 15 seconds. I have several systems running this and the load times are as follows (keep in mind I do not have the Ad-Watch module loading on start-up or even installed on any of these systems):
2.4Ghz P4, 2GB RAM, 256mb video card, XP SP3: 52-58 seconds
3.4Ghz (3.6o/c) P4, 4GB RAM, 512mb video card, XP SP3: 42-47 seconds
2.66 (3.33 o/c) QX6700, 4GB RAM, 1GB video card, XP SP3: 18-21 seconds
2.66 (3.6 o/c) i7, 12GB RAM, 1GB video card, Vista64: 16-18 seconds
The thing that really burns me is that even with the 2 program processes already running (the tray icon is now visible), this hog still takes a looonnnggg time to bring up the update/scan interface. With AE, once the 2 system processes were loaded into memory, the update/scan interface was nearly instantaneous when called.
I don't see where this version is doing anything that AE wasn't doing...it's just taking a helluva lot longer to do it!
Come on guys....I know you can do better!!!
Again, counterpoints welcome...

If I then open the Ad-Aware GUI it takes about ~50-60s for the program to open. Perhaps this is the case in your set-ups, what is the status of the service before you open the GUI?

The only way I can get a really long delay is when I have the Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service turned off.

As with all the software that I use for a specific reason only at specific times (including the previous AE), I do not allow automatic loading of the program's services at start-up. Only my anti-vrus, firewall, graphics drivers, and a few other monitoring and interactive programs are granted that privilege.
As I said earlier, even after the two services are started, it still takes an inordinate amount of time to load the interface, anywhere from 7 to 40 seconds, depending on the system. If the two services were already running using AE, the interface would load in less than 2 seconds on the QX6700 and it was virtually instananeous on the i7.

That it takes about 10-15s for the GUI to turn on the service (I can tell this by the status change of the service in Window's services display) and then after this it takes a further 40s or so for the GUI to open. I have added this to the earlier bug report since this is something which obviously needs fixing.
There is no reason, that I can see, why there should be such a delay after the service has been started to when the GUI loads - it should take the same time as when the service is automatically running to open the GUI - i.e. for me, it should take:
~10s to start the service
~15s to then open the GUI
= total ~25s to open Ad-Aware from scratch NOT ~50-60s

launching it. It takes 50 seconds to load and if I do an update it takes
and additional 105 seconds. In total before I can begin a scan from the
moment of clicking the Ad-Aware icon, I have to wait 2 1/2 minutes. The
old version never had this problem. Any suggestions??
My computer runs Windows XP SP3 with 1.5 GB Ram and is fast.

Not necessarily Ad-Aware - do you have other real-time protection running? I had a similar problem when I had Ad-Aware, AVG, Spybot, and Windows Defender all running resident protection. System was much snappier once I turned off everything except Ad-Aware (albeit I'm still using Ad-Aware AE).I also experience a very slow response time after opening my browser (Mozilla Firefox) and then getting any tab to open. Shutting down Ad-Aware 8.1.1 solves this problem. So I know whose fault it is.
