Hi Forum Members...
I thought I was alone, but I've read all the the info on the McAfee AdAware conflict, and about removing it.
I've done all the removal tricks so I can install McAfee Anti Virus. I searched, and no Lavasoft or Adaware programs or files are list in my computer.

BUT, McAfee Anti Virus still won't install because it still says I have AdAware installed!!
Can anyone help?? Thank you all

Hello Slowhand,

This is a problem with the McAfee upgrade. They have stated they are working on a fix but I haven't seen one released yet. I don't know how to get your McAfee re-installed. If any other McAfee users have a solution, hopefully they will post here for you what worked for them.

If you are without an Antivirus program, Lavasoft can offer this alternative in our News and Events Published 02 Aug 2006:

And there are also some very good free for personal use AV's out there that are highly recommended by other users. I have personally tried these myself and one of them should be sufficient for protection:

Howdy! Slowhand - let us know how you make out.

At least you'll have some AV protection until McAfee straightens out the problem. None of those AVs will conflict with Ad-Aware either, so you can reinstall that if you like.

Sorry to be a pest, but will the new McAfee also cause my computer to run noticeably slower???
