:P I am a newby so please bare with me. Ad-Aware is freezing when it gets to WINDOWS\system32\dllcache. I have uninstalled.Reinstalled.installed other programmes and have read everything I can! My main worry is that before it stalls it is showing lots of critical objects and identifies registry files and keys.
I have downloaded Highjackthis and the log is below. I am also having other probs but dont know if they are linked. If i need to post any other info please let me know.

I think this is a webroot spysweeper problem,,,,,when i disable it, it scans fine. I hope adaware is aware of this.

Gunman, you are absolutely right. I have been have the same problem as "newbie" with Ad-Aware freezing up and finally resorted to this forum. I also uninstalled and reinstalled AdAware with the same results. I disabled SpySweeper and it ran fine. Previously, AdAware would freeze in the memory scan.
Thanks for your suggestion.

[font=Arial][size=7] Possibly SpySweeper; but not previous 4.5.9.709 I installed 2006/01/28; more likely the newer 5.0.5.1286 I installed 2006/07/12; my next use of Ad-Aware on 7/16 hung. I also updated Symantec Norten Internet Security to "2006" on 6/08. I have not crippled SpySweeper to test. Regards, Paul Wood

There is a conflict between Ad-Aware and the latest version of Spy Sweeper, as per this post (look at the second page):

Frank C Yesterday, 02:48 PMAt the risk of beating this topic to death - I want to post the text of the poblem report that I sent to Webroot and their reply. Now, I will patiently await a fix and, in the meantime, stop Spy Sweeper for the duration of the Ad-Aware Scan.
Frank C

Problem Reported to Webroot - Frank C July17 @1:59PM EST
There is a conflict between the new Spy Sweeper version 5.0.5.1286 and Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06 r1. If Spy Sweeper is running when an Ad-Aware scan is executed, Ad-Aware stalls on ‚ÄúRunning Processes‚Ä?.
If Spy Sweeper is stopped, Ad-Aware runs to completion.
This did NOT occur before the latest Spy Sweeper upgrade.
This has also been reported in the Lavasoft Support Forum, ‚ÄúScan Freezes At Local Registry‚Ä? . http://www.lavasofts...s...43&hl=freez

Problem response from Webroot Tues July 18 @5:18 PM EST
Solution:
Unfortunately, there is a conflict preventing Ad-Aware from scanning while Spy Sweeper is running. We are in communication with Lavasoft to find a solution for the issue. In the mean time, you will simply need to shut down spy sweeper when scanning with Ad-Aware. I apologize for any inconvenience.

I also have had the same freezing problem and it seems to freeze at different files, however, I have noticed that for the last five times it has frozen at Process Module 1864. I have yet to try it while shutting down Spy Sweeper but will be trying that next.
